NEW: EasyBase Force Plates
)
In the world of healthcare, data-driven insights are essential for improving performance, reducing injury risk, and monitoring client progress. From the manufacturers of worldwide popular devices EasyAngle and EasyForce, within this blog we are introducing EasyBase, our latest addition to the portfolio.
EasyBase is a new medical-grade, bipedal force plate system carefully engineered to meet the assessment needs of modern clinicians, rehabilitation specialists, strength and conditioning coaches, and sport scientists. Over the past 3-years, we have interviewed over 200 clinicians from the UK and globally to decipher what they require from clinical force plates and EasyBase is the result of this.
With advancements in technology making clinical equipment more accessible than ever, many clinicians are facing confusion and uncertainty about how to best handle data. EasyBase brings simplicity back to the forefront- delivering a streamlined, accurate, and reliable solution at an unprecedented price to your clinic floor.
EasyBase comprises a pair of force plates that wirelessly connect via Bluetooth to the Meloq System application available for tablets and smartphones on iOS and Android platforms. Designed with portability in mind, each plate weighs only 4.65 kg and features accessible carry slots for easy transport- perfect for mobile practitioners, small clinics where they need to be stowed, or on-the-go assessments.
The specifications are designed to meet the high standards of today’s clinicians, with medical-grade certifications that are often overlooked in the force plate industry. The plates can measure forces up to 12,000 N (1,223.88 kg) with exceptional technical accuracy of ±1%. The most discrete changes made by humans during functional movement like what is experienced in jumping, running and balance tasks are detected to a resolution of 1 N, and sampled at 400 Hz, striking a perfect balance between optimised performance and efficient data storage.
Level up EasyBase with custom-designed accessories, ISOframe and JumpGuard, to perform tests in a safer, controlled environment. ISOframe features a specially designed base plate and barbell attachment that secure the force platforms, replacing bulky gym equipment and allowing for a wide range of isometric tests anywhere. JumpGuard extends the landing surface area by 92.6%, thus creating a more comfortable environment during jumps tests, where perturbations can be more likely.
Continuing the theme of simplicity and ease of use, the Meloq Systems Application for EasyBase is designed to present crucial information in a way that's easy to understand for both you and your clients. Whether your clientele consists of healthy individuals, athletes returning to sports, or patients recovering from hip replacement surgery, knee injury, or stroke, EasyBase can help you gain actionable insights for effective treatment planning and design.
The interface allows users to effortlessly manage clients and teams via customisable overview dashboards. Here, trackable metrics can be viewed easily from the patient history. Instantly jump directly into your favourite and frequently used tests (e.g., athlete test batteries) from the main screen, reducing time to start testing
The philosophy of EasyBase is to avoid overburdening the clinician with masses of data. Instead, we have created the simplistic approach called the “4 Layers of Data Complexity”. Tab through each section to reveal the level of detail you require to better inform your patients. You can choose from...
- The familiar force-time graph, displaying left, right, and overall force.
- Flashcards summarising key metrics for quick, easy-to-understand patient explanations.
- An extensive tabled list for all calculated metrics.
- A raw, exportable CSV file for your own in-depth analysis.
Finally, generate a client report detailing session results or progress over time. The automated report can be printed, emailed directly to the client, or attached to external patient notes.
Following extensive market research, from launch, 17 of the most commonly used assessments incorporating force plates have been developed to meet the specific needs of clinicians. These tests are grouped into five modules to comprehensively address screening for a wide range of pathologies, from sports performance to geriatrics.
- Jumps- e.g., Countermovement Jump, Squat Jump, Drop Jump, Hop Test.
- Balance- e.g., Single leg stand, Bipedal Quiet Stand, Single Leg Hop to Stabilise.
- Upper Extremity- e.g., Drop Push-up, ITY, Isometric Push Up.
- Isometric- e.g., Seated Press, Hamstring Test, Deadlift, Mid-Thigh Pull, Squat.
- Functional- e.g., Sit to stand test, Bodyweight Squat.
Before each test, you can optionally choose to brief and demonstrate the task at hand to the client via the evidenced-based instructions and integrated quick video tutorials. Additionally, ensure your patient is accustomed to force plate testing by using the familiarisation free test ahead of the assessment process.
EasyBase is a direct result of what has been asked for by industry professionals across the world, striking balance between optimised clinical performance, streamlined software processes and the information you need to inform practice. Unlock new services for your clinic and make data-driven decisions, with complete ownership of your equipment, and no ongoing license or hardware fees.
