Jane Lewis
Podiatry Research Lead and Reader in Podiatric and Circulatory Medicine, Wales Centre for Podiatric Studies, Cardiff Metropolitan University
Dr Lewis worked as an NHS Specialist Podiatrist for 16 years before taking up a lecturing position at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2014. At the university, Dr Lewis' teaching and research has focused on the early detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). She is a chief investigator on several clinical investigations and implementation science studies exploring population-based screening for these conditions, both nationally and internationally. Dr Lewis collaborates with a wide range of organisations to advance her research and improve outcomes for patients.
Importantly, Dr Lewis also works directly with the public to ensure her research leads to better outcomes. She has presented her work at national and international conferences, demonstrating that by increasing awareness and working smarter, earlier detection of cardiovascular diseases can be achieved, ultimately saving limbs and lives.
