Venous Blood Collection Transport Kit (UKCA) - Cell-Free DNA

Alpha Laboratories Ltd Stand: 15
Hannah Smith

It is UKCA marked demonstrating that all components are suitable for collection and transport, meeting health and safety requirements. Within this scope, kits are assembled under an ISO 13485 Quality Management System, the gold standard for medical devices.

This kit comprises of two Streck Cell-Free DNA BCT® Tubes that maintain cell-free DNA for up to 14 days and circulating tumour cells (CTCs) for up to 7. The cell-free DNA and CTCs isolated from stored plasma are suitable for many downstream applications used in research studies, drug discovery and assay development. The BCT tubes contain a preservative reagent, limiting the release of genomic DNA, enabling the isolation of high-quality cell-free DNA, whilst minimising the degradation of circulating tumour cells. Cell-Free DNA BCT eliminates the need for immediate plasma isolation and CTC processing, easing concerns about pre-analytical variation that arises during shipping and handling. Cell-free DNA is stabilised for up to 14 days at 6 °C to 37 °C, whilst CTCs can be maintained for up to 7 days at 15 °C to 30 °C, allowing sample quality and integrity to be maintained throughout transportation.

Our effective and UN3373 compliant transport packaging helps transport the blood samples safely and securely from patients to laboratories. The multi-bay absorbent pouch, together with a biohazard marked specimen bag, protects the tube from damage during transport, ensuring the safety of laboratory kit handlers. The specimen bag also contains a documentation wallet, which is ideal for securing patient forms to samples for full traceability. Kit components are enclosed within a recyclable, tamper evident seal, UN3373 Biological Substance Category B marked sample transport box, with the following outer dimensions. Furthermore, this compact box can fit through all standard post-boxes for potential transit via Royal Mail that is convenient for Healthcare Professionals when travelling to and from multiple patients.

The kit contains the following components:

 Streck Cell-Free DNA BCT CE, 10mL x 2
 Rigid UN3373 Outer Box (172x117x22mm)
 Absorbent 4 bay pouch
 Specimen Bag (14x14cm) & Wallet Biohazard (20x14cm)
 Royal Mail Track 24 or 48 return label
 Packaging instructions for use (IFU)
 Sleeve with kit identification label

Recognising the logistical challenges of kit fulfilment, Alpha laboratories work in partnership with our customers to provide integrated workflow solutions, such as Royal Mail tracked 24 labelling, stock management and direct to GP or patient fulfilment.
