Florence Wilcock
Hello, my name is Florence, I am an obstetrician working in NHS maternity services. I have been a consultant obstetrician at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2007. I have a special interest in improving women’s experience of maternity care working with midwives to support women with personalised birth preferences and being the link consultant for homebirth. I am also the lead obstetrician for Perinatal mental health and have a joint clinic with perinatal mental health colleagues. In 2020 I started my podcast TheObsPod to try and demystify obstetrics and help both maternity staff and families going through maternity care understand a bit more about the role of the obstetrician. The podcast covers a wide range of subjects from common clinical topics to stories about my working life. In August 2022 I gave a TEDxNHS talk ‘Birth Should be Special’ now on You Tube with more than 55k views.
