Dr Marta Vazquez-Ortiz qualified as a doctor in 2004 having completed medical studies in Spain and Germany. and later a specialty in Paediatrics and a Masters in Paediatric Allergy in Barcelona (Spain) in 2011. Dr Vazquez-Ortiz completed a PhD in food allergy in 2013 (Magna Cum Laude) and obtained a 2-year EU-funded individual Marie-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2014 to join Imperial College London on food allergy research. Since 2017, Dr Vazquez-Ortiz has worked as a substantive consultant in Paediatric Allergy at Imperial NHS and Programme Director for the Allergy MSc at Imperial. Dr Vazquez-Ortiz research focuses on food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) and improving food allergy diagnosis. Dr Vazquez-Ortiz leads on the largest international collaboration investigating clinical characteristics, diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for FPIES using an ‘omics’ approach. Our publications have contributed to better understand FPIES phenotypes for improved diagnosis and management. Dr Vazquez-Ortiz has >60 publications in allergy, mainly original publications as first/last author.
