Ali Phillips is a Consultant Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgeon practising in Winchester and on Harley Street. A Council Member of the Association of Surgeons in Primary Care, he co-leads the ASPC's national carpal tunnel surgery training programme and holds a Visiting Academic Fellowship at the University of Southampton. Ali has a particular interest in making specialist knowledge accessible to primary care. His clinical practice centres on ultrasound-guided procedures and Wide Awake Local Anaesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) surgery — techniques that are reshaping how and where hand surgery is delivered. In this session, Ali will guide you through a structured upper limb examination you can use in your next clinic. This is hands-on teaching: expect to be moving, testing, and examining — not sitting and listening. You'll leave with a practical framework that helps you diagnose with confidence and refer with precision.
