Pearl Avery is an experienced Gastro ANP with 21 years of experience in Gastroenterology. She has received several awards for her contributions to the field, including the BJN Gastro/IBD Nurse in 2018. In addition to her role as the IBD Nursing lead with Crohn’s & Colitis U.K. Pearl works as a consultant nurse with a special GI interest at Wyke Regis and Lanehouse medical centre. Pearl has submitted her PhD thesis and was awarded NIHR bridging award in 2019 and became a NHS Clinical entrepreneur. She is the Nurse representative for the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) IBD section clinical research group. She is also a member of the RCN Gastrointestinal Nursing Forum and the European Crohn’s & Colitis Organisation committees. In 2025, Pearl received one of the prestigious BSG research scholarships and has been a key contributor to The National Lower GI Pathway development and the IBD UK Standards.
